Annual Town Events

Easter Egg Hunt At Easter, we have our traditional Easter Egg Hunt on Town property. Notices of this event are given to each student at Cooleemee School and are also posted at various town locations. Our local newspaper provides event coverage also. All children are invited to come and hunt for eggs and meet our Town Easter Bunny.
Old Timers Softball Games In June, the Town sponsors two "Old Timers Softball Games" with a game for women and then one for men. In fact, the only man to pinch-hit for Babe Ruth in an All-Star Game, Baxter Jordan, was born and raised in Cooleemee. Jordan played for the Boston Braves. Five other Cooleemee men played on Major League Baseball Teams.
Lawn Mower Parade On July 4th, the Town sponsors its unique Lawnmower and Bicycle Parade that begins at 10am. You don't have to live in Town to submit your decorated entry into the Parade. (The only requirement to enter is that your lawnmower must be able to cut grass.) The Parade proceeds down short in-town streets and ends at the Town's Zachary House, located on Church Street, where awards are presented for the best decorated entries. Immediately following the ceremony, join us for lots of fun-filled activities follow the awards ceremony... from climbing a greasy pole to reach a cash prize to games for children of all ages. Enjoy delicious homemade hotdogs, ice cream and other goodies while listening to special music.

Textile Heritage Day During September each year, the Cooleemee Civitan Club presents the annual Textile Heritage Day. This event is one big "family" reunion when everyone who either lives in Cooleemee or grew up in Cooleemee or the surrounding area, gets together to renew old friendships and to make new ones. The day is filled lots of delicious food, special music, games for all ages and special fun-filled activities for children.
Celebrating Christmas To celebrate the Christmas season, residents decorate their homes with the theme of Christmas and enjoy getting together to share the Holiday spirit by singing Christmas carols and having light refreshments.
